Description
The Manto de Reparación Workshops originated from the exhibition of the same name and have evolved into a living, ever-expanding practice.
Through more than twenty encounters, this artistic and relational methodology has brought together over two hundred participants from diverse communities, institutions, and companies to create through listening, awareness, and collaboration.
Each workshop offers a space for pause and connection, where the act of sewing becomes a metaphor for life itself.
The thread turns into a language of dialogue — a shared experience that mends relationships, from the intimate to the collective, uniting scattered fragments and giving them new meaning as a whole.
Guided by Maite Izquierdo, the workshops begin with an exercise in body awareness and silence. From that state of presence, each participant selects a textile and transforms it through cutting, sewing, and encounter — learning to stitch while reflecting on connection, memory, and the act of repair. The fragments are then arranged and joined into a collective composition, where each individual piece finds its place, symbolically fitting with those of others.
The experience weaves together a symbolic and material fabric that nurtures creativity, empathy, and human connection.
Today, this practice extends to companies, universities, and foundations, functioning as a tool for meeting, listening, and repair within professional and community contexts.
Each encounter is unique, yet all share the same red thread: the possibility of healing, mending, and transforming together through art — adapting to the sensitivities and needs of each group.
The Manto de Reparación Workshops continue to weave connections in different places, keeping alive the essence of the original project: to repair through meaningful making, to meet at the edges while honoring our differences, and to create together a new body through attentive listening.
