Concept work

Corambre, which means set of hides, it presents different processes of transformation of the skin; a needed change to mature. In this way, it analyzes the records of the passage of time in the body, such as the marks, scars and layers that regenerate to heal. A material work, which has a continuous relationship between the textile and the body, color and structure, scale and space.

According to Carolina Arévalo, the exhibition’s curator, “ Maite Izquierdo’s work is born from treasuring and breaking down textiles that have already had a life, vestiges that allow them to be mended, slit and mended, to rearticulate surfaces and bodies that shelter the space. In his work there is a continuous intention to extend the experience of the body, a second skin made up of folds and corporeal gestures that are articulated through colors and textures”.
